Important Steps to Follow:
If you believe you are pregnant, contact us to schedule your first appointment. At that first appointment, you will have a comprehensive history and physical examination. You will be given the book, “What to Expect When Your're Expecting” and other information on pregnancy.

Your second appointment usually starts with an ultrasound of your baby, and you will receive some pictures of your baby to show your family. This visit is also packed with education about pregnancy and prenatal information like diet and exercise; we will also answer any questions you may have.

Throughout your pregnancy you will be asked to see all of the doctors at least once so that each will have an opportunity to get to know you. Since all of the doctors rotate through the call schedule, by meeting each doctor you are assured that the doctor delivering your baby is a familiar face. If you prefer to see one particular doctor after you have rotated through the physicians, please notify the appointment desk.

After your first exam, our financial advisor will discuss financial arrangements for your maternity care and delivery. We will also assist you in meeting your insurance precertification requirements.

Scheduling – Your prenatal care will include...

  • monthly appointments from approximately 8 weeks to 28 weeks (beginning of third trimester)
  • appointments every 2 weeks, from 32 weeks to 36 weeks
  • weekly appointments after 36 weeks, until delivery
  • a post partum examination 4 to 6 weeks after delivery

Our affiliation with area perinatologists (specialist in high-risk pregnancies), reproductive endocrinologists (specialist in fertility issues), and pediatricians (specialist in infant, children and adolescents) further enhances the level of services available to you.

As a courtesy to our obstetrical patients, you will receive a free ultrasound DVD. It is best to obtain this ultrasound when you are 25-28 weeks pregnant.

At approximately 25 weeks gestation a brief ultrasound can be done to determine your baby's gender.
